Who I Am

Kelechi John Ekuma is an academic, digital transformation expert, technology entrepreneur, and international development specialist dedicated to helping people and organizations navigate the opportunities and challenges of emerging technologies. His work lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence, public policy, human development, and innovation, with a focus on ensuring technology serves people, strengthens institutions, and drives sustainable social and economic progress.

With experience spanning academia, entrepreneurship, and international development, Kelechi combines research, policy, and practical innovation to address some of the most pressing challenges facing governments, businesses, educational institutions, and communities in the digital age.

Academic Leadership

Kelechi is a Senior Lecturer at the Global Development Institute at The University of Manchester, where he teaches and conducts research on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, graduate employability, workforce development, and the future of work.

Throughout his academic career, he has led postgraduate programmes, designed innovative curricula, supervised master’s and doctoral researchers, and mentored students from across the globe. His teaching and research equip current and future leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate an increasingly digital and technology-driven world.

Entrepreneurship & Innovation

Beyond academia, Kelechi is passionate about building solutions that translate research into real-world impact. He has founded several technology and social impact initiatives that address challenges across finance, education, public policy, and innovation.

His ventures include Melon, a fintech platform focused on improving financial inclusion through accessible cross-border payment solutions; the African Skills and Innovation Network (ASIN); PolicyAtlas; Coevolution; and the African Journal of Education, Skills and Innovation.

Across these initiatives, his mission remains consistent: to leverage technology, research, and strategic collaboration to create opportunities for individuals, communities, businesses, and public institutions.

Research & Thought Leadership

Kelechi’s research explores responsible artificial intelligence, digital governance, automation, higher education, innovation policy, workforce development, and the evolving relationship between technology and society.

His work examines how governments, businesses, and educational institutions can adopt digital technologies in ways that are ethical, inclusive, and sustainable.
